I am a technically-savvy person living in a classic N. California/SF Bay home on a budget. When the blower motor on my otherwise healthy, circa 1974 furnace began to fail with bering problems (simple old age), I did some research and discovered that the Evergreen IM would fit into my blower unit.
I really enjoyed working with this motor and wiring it into my existing Day & Night 100D furnace. The provided documentation from GE was very helpful and it was easy to select the proper speed. The motor installation guide provided good guidance on how to measure temp rise so I could be confident that I selected the proper speed for heating.
Also, a cool benefit of the ECM motor is the ability to have the constant fan feature work - due to the intelligence of the Evergreen IM motor - which I did not have with the original, simple motor configuration.
After wiring this motor into the furnace properly, it ramped up perfectly and quietly. It runs very cool and I am confident that this motor retrofit will save on electricity, big time.
I did need to buy a larger "belly band" motor mount because the failing motor was a smaller, 1/6th HP motor (shaded pole.) I got this new bracket from comfortgurus too.
The reason I could be so confident that this state-of-the-art, high efficiency motor in this old furnace was because comfortgurus.com posts the installation guides and specification at the bottom of the product description. Incredibly helpful.
Excellent, fast service from comfortgurus.com!
